STARRING ROLE
What are also called “Premium Flowers,” “focal flowers,” or “form flowers,” these flowers are what dominate and immediately catch the viewer’s eye in any floral arrangement.
ROSES

These flowers come in a wide variety of colors. Perhaps lesser known,
they come in a variety of shapes and textures as well, from your standard red to a fragrant garden variety.
SUNFLOWERS

The ever popular sunflowers come into season around late summer into autumn.
Large and stunning, they make excellent starring roles for lush wildflower bouquets.
LILLIES
Elegant and exotic looking, lillies are well loved flowers for their size and delicate form.
These flowers are also in season year round and come in several different colors.
MASS FLOWERS
If the premium flowers are the starring role, you can think of these flowers as the “supporting role,” aiding the stars by guiding the viewer’s eye and offering contrast.
DAISIES
One of the most well known and popular mass flowers. They have a distinct “pop”
quality that makes them perfect for cheery wildflower bouquets.
CARNATIONS
The oldest and most common flower used in floral arrangements. They’ve been selectively bred
for decades, yielding perhaps the largest variety of colors, making them a well deserved staple of the florist’s
arsenal.
ALSTROMERIA
Also known as the “Peruvian lily” or “Lily of the Incas,” this flower is an elegant yet hardy all season staple
of floral design that comes in a variety of colors.
LINEAR FLOWERS
As the name suggests, these flowers grow upwards. Adding these to any arrangement offers a strong statement to the overall composition.
DELPHINIUM
Strikingly blue and sometimes violet, delphinium is the primadonna of
linear flowers. Adding these to any arrangement will guarantee a lush garden appearance.
LIATRIS
This linear flower is unique in that it blooms from up to down instead of
the more typical bottom to top. Though most commonly purple, they can also come in white.
ACCENT FLOWERS
These often overlooked flowers function as flourishes to the design. They can either add contrast,
texture, variety, a pop of color, or to soften the overall appearance of an arrangement.
These kinds of fresh cuts would consist of Babies Breath, Limonium, Solidago, Monte Aster, and
many other varieties
ERYNGOS (THISTLE)
Also known as “Sea Holly,” these unique flowers offer the floral arrangement a dramatic sharp texture,
breaking up any monotony it otherwise could possibly have had.
STATICE
Known for its fine papery petals, statice is a hardy and long lasting fresh cut flower.
Great for softening the look of an arrangement and dries particularly well.
Usually blue, but may come in other colors.
HYPERICUM
Yes that’s right, these are berries! No, they are not edible!
Even though hypericum berries will eventually flower, they’re more often used in floral design
as berries. Also called “St John’s Wort,” their soft but hardy form gives arrangements greater diversity in content.
